Vonyeah Malone

I’m happy

by Vonyeah Malone

Not because of the battles I had with darkness
Not because I opened my heart out a little

'Cause I felt me, willing to laugh, willing to speak
Willing to joke and talk
Not 'cause I’m sad

I broke out of defeat not long ago
I felt sunshine in my hand
Calmness in my hair, the firework in my laugh

And the happiness that glowed on my face
It takes 17 muscles to smile
And 43 muscles to frown

I rather smile the whole year with a poor life
Than frown with a happy life
Because whatever it took to notice, he has noticed me also

That is what makes a simple life, simple
