Guest speaker Dr. Neil Cuadra spoke to four periods of Ms. Garret's 7th grade history class on Tuesday, January 14, 2010.

Using a prepared slideshow, he showed students that many social developments and engineering achievements of the Roman Empire affect our lives today. For example, he showed students how the government buildings in Washington, DC were modeled after classical buildings in Rome and how Roman numerals lend prestige to names and events.

Ms. Garret's students, who had already studied some aspects of the Roman Empire, were able to answer both easier and tougher questions during the lesson.
