Fall Robotics Classes Start November 5!

Three new robotics classes will be starting on Monday, November 5! We will offer two after school classes and one lunch club. After school classes are as follows: Beginning Lego EV3 is for students with little or no experience in robotics or programming. Beginning mBot (MakerBot) is an intro course for students who would like to apply Scratch to robotics programming. Lego EV3 will meet during lunch and is for students who are experienced with robotics and programming. 

Class Details:

Beginning Lego EV3

Mondays, 3:15-4:30 in room 232. 8 sessions: Nov. 5, 25; Dec. 3, 10; Jan. 7, 14, 28; Feb. 4

  • This class is for students with little or no experience with robotics or programming. Students will learn basic robot design, construction and programming. They will tinker with mechanical structure, motors, gears, power, sensors and much more, while learning engineering and math concepts such as mechanics, physics, design, and environmental science.

Beginning mBot - MakerBot

Mondays, 3:15-4:30 in room 233. 8 sessions: Nov. 5, 26; Dec. 3, 10; Jan. 7, 14, 28; Feb. 4

  • This class is for students who would like to apply Scratch to robotics programming. This robot involves more programming than building. This is a good introductory course for students who have little to no experience with robotics or programming.

Lunch Club: Lego EV3

Tuesdays during lunch in room 232 

  • This class is for students who have experience in robotics and programming and would like to meet with other individuals to create robots and problem-solve.

Class sizes may be limited, so if you are interested, turn in your application soon! Application deadline: Friday, November 2, 2018. Click here for the application.

Classes are free, but a voluntary donation of $50-200 per student is politely requested.

But donations are appreciated!

Students may take Intro to Robotics and Intermediate Robotics for free. However, a suggested donation amount of $50-$200, or any amount, would be greatly appreciated and help to continue and develop the Robotics and Technology programs at Palms.

To donate:

  1. Write a check payable to Palms Middle School.
  2. Put the check in a sealed envelope.
  3. Put the envelope in Ms. Vogel's mailbox in the Main Office.
